Senior Structural Engineer/Civil Engineer

A growing engineering firm has an immediate opening for a structural/civil engineer in its Tulsa, Oklahoma office to design and review steel structures and concrete buildings in the oil, gas, food processing, and refinery plants. You will provide complete engineering designs and calculations, review and approve the designs prepared by other engineers. The job offers unlimited professional growth opportunities. Responsibilities:

  • Provide load calculations and engineering calculations using MathCAD.

  • Provide steel structure and concrete building calculations and designs using STAAD and RISA, including small and large scale structures and buildings.

  • Provide STAAD modeling with structural component information from the shop drawings and bill of materials.

  • Provide steel connection calculations, designs, and drawings using RAM Connection.

  • Provide, review and approve general arrangement and detail drawings.

  • Communicate effectively among customers and other engineers

  • Field evaluating and gathering the required information, travel may be required

  • Review and approve the designs, drawings, calculations, and reports prepared by other engineers. Prepare the calculation reports.

  • Achieve agreed outcomes within schedules and budgets.

  • Continuously improve through feedback.

Skills and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. A Masters Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is highly desirable

  • Must be proficient with STAAD Pro and structural engineering design, requiring 5-12 years of experience. Knowledge and experience in Ram Connection, RISA, and FEA are desirable

  • Minimum of 4 years of field and fabrication experience is required

  • P.E., S.E., or P.ENG. license is required

  • Strong knowledge of building design codes. Experience and knowledge of British standards and Eurocodes are a plus

  • Strong understanding of structural construction, general and detail drawings, fabrication drawings, and bill of materials

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. Highly efficient in reading and understanding specifications

  • Experience in using MathCAD for calculations

  • Excellent time-management skills to meet promised schedules and attention to detail are a must

  • Strong work ethic and flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as necessary

  • Capable of working on multi-faceted engineering design projects of any magnitude while requiring minimum supervision
