Industrial / Ammonia Refrigeration Engineer

The PEPM Group is an engineering firm specializing in food processing facilities, manufacturing, and energy sectors.

 

We are looking for an experienced Industrial / Ammonia Refrigeration Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the meat production industry. Must be skilled in facility Mechanical Engineering and Ammonia Refrigeration Engineering, PSM program, and HVACR design.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Make required site visits as needed.

  • Develop the initial outline scope of work, block flow drawings, preliminary equipment selections, and technical reports.

  • Maintain quality and standards through staying current with relevant code changes and maintaining stellar engineering standards.

  • Sizing and selecting refrigeration equipment, reviewing equipment schedules, control group design, final line sizing, and mass, and energy balance.

  • Responsible for ensuring completion of engineering tasks, accuracy of drawing package/model, and maintaining assigned work schedule.

  • Responsible for all technical aspects of submittals.

  • Preparing and issuing drawing sets, redline mark ups, P&ID's, and PSM.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 8 or more years of engineering design experiences in meat process facilities (Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering preferred).

  • Capable of working on multi-faceted ammonia refrigeration engineering and design projects of any magnitude while requiring little or no supervision; ability to complete complex projects on time and on budget.

  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration, HVACR, and Process Safety Management (PSM).

  • Knowledge of facility mechanical system including high- and low-pressure water, steam and boilers, pumps and blowers, natural gas and compressed air systems, sanitation and vacuum systems.

  • Knowledge of NEC code, EPA, ASHRAE and OSHA and their best practices.

  • Highly motivated, organized, and a self-starter.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
